During a chat about Mobile ‘Phones, my good friend Matt Barton over at Ostrich IT pointed out to me that my HTC HD2 mobile ‘phone was showing the “Water Damage Indicator” on its battery.
This was news to me, as I didn’t know such an indicator existed! A quick Google Seach shows that most ‘phones now feature this indicator, which turns from White to Red if the ‘phone suffers “Water Damage”.
As seen in the image below, the battery on the left has a White indicator – and so is ok. The battery on the right has a Red indicator, which shows water damage.
I’ve certainly not let my HD2 get wet, but as the spare battery that is affected lives in my laptop bag – I guess it could easily have gotten damp at some point.

The HD2 is so hard to get hold of in the UK nowadays. It’s a shame because it’s possibly the best of the Windows 6.5 phones. It’s the one I always found the most practical anyway. I know you can buy refurb units from MobiCity and one or two other places around here, but getting your hands on new HD2s in bulk at a reasonable price is so difficult.
I was just wondering if people could tell me what sort of quality you can expect from a refurbished model? I’m not expecting them to be sparkling but would appreciate something functional and decent in appearance…
Cat – in bulk, I’m not so sure – but the HTC HD2 is still available via eBay from Private Sellers.
for that price, your not going to locate a phone that will do as much that is still fast and possesses a fantastic size screen.
