MICO Toastie Friday Favourites with Richard TubbYou love a Toasted Sandwich. Who doesn’t? But what’s the biggest problem with making a toastie. It’s the faff, right? Plugging the Toastie Maker in, waiting for it to warm up, then cleaning it up afterwards. If only there was an easier way to make Toasties…

Every Friday I share one of my favourite finds of the week — a website, tool or an app that has impressed me.

My Friday Favourite this week is MICO Toastie – Cook Microwave Toasties!

What is it?

The Morphy Richards MICO Toastie is an toastie maker that you can use to cook microwave toasties!

How much does it cost?

The MICO Toastie costs £24.99.

How Can I Cook Microwave Toasties?

I’ve covered food-based tech in my Friday Favourite series before. From Ate – The Mindful Food Journaling App to Qkr! – Pay for food and drinks from your Smartphone but this particular Friday Favourite may be the greatest food-based tech I’ve ever found! 🙂

The Morphy Richard’s MICO Toastie v2 is a toasted sandwich maker that you can use to cook microwave toasties.

The MICO doesn’t plug into the wall. Instead, the two sandwich plates of the Mico Toastie feature Heatwave technology which toast food on both sides at the same time.

On the outside of the MICO, the sandwich plates are encased in removable silicone grips which fasten together for use.

This silicon grips give soft-touch access for you to handle the Toastie.

Simply butter twice slices of bread, pop your filling in, clip the MICO Toastie shut, and then pop in the microwave for between 2-3 minutes (depending on how brown you want you toastie).

Then, turn the MICO over, set the microwave for another 1-2 mins, and ping! You have one crunchie, fully toasted sandwich!

My favourite thing about the MICO? When you’re finished making your toastie, you can pop the MICO in the dishwasher. No mess to clean up!

The MICO toastie is part of a range of the Morphy Richards Mico range of microwaveable devices, which includes the MICO Multi-Pot — which allows you cook fluffy baked potatoes and more!

Readers of Friday Favourites are either going to see the MICO Toastie v2 as the greatest gadget I’ve ever shared, or will be scratching their head at why I’m excited about it.

If you love Toasties, you’ll get it. 🙂

All that remains for me to ask is, what fillings would you recommend for a Toastie? Leave a comment below!
