How to switch between Network Profiles

How to switch between Network Profiles

Sometimes, you “know” a solution to your problem is “out there”, but you just can’t find it.

In my case, moving between different customer sites with my laptop – I’m forced to manually change network adaptor settings in Windows XP to get either get a working, or an optimum network connection. When you’re moving between half a dozen sites a month, this can be a chore.

I figure “Someone else has experienced this problem too, and written a bit of software to make these changes easy!”. But search as I might, I could never find that software.

Whilst browsing David Moss’ excellent “Technical Support” column in PC Pro magazine this month, out from Mr. Moss’ article pops the answer!

NetSwitcher is Shareware, and costs less than $20. What’s more, it does exactly what it says on the tin!

Sometimes you can’t find the answers, no matter how hard you try. Sometimes the answers just find you.

How old a program is this? I remember 'back in the day' (it was a Wednesday, btw.) I'd use a piece of software like this to move between the various LAN parties I'd visit (Back when I'd measure in 'per week' not 'per year' :( ). I could add the various workgroup / IP ranges etc. and switch between them with a simple reboot.   Good times.... (Now I'm reminiscing old LAN parties.... Ah SHOGO.... :) )

Exactly my point! This program has probably been around for years! There are rare times when you Google on every keyword you know and still don't come up with anything relevant. Of course I never consider Googling on Net + Switcher. lol.As for LAN parties, I still hark back for the days when we just used NetBeui. ;-)
